Monument "Ilinden" - Macedonia

The “Ilinden” monument, also known as Macedonium, is a complex located in Krushevo. The monument was unveiled on August 2, 1974, on the day of the thirtieth anniversary of the meeting of ASNOM and the 71st anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising. The monument signifies the insubordination, struggle and eternal striving of the Macedonian people for freedom and an independent state. The Ilinden monument extends over 12 hectares and the shape begins with broken chains, continues through the crypt and the colourful mosaic ceramic scene, and ends with a dome raised 1320 meters above sea level, from where an extraordinary view of the city of Krushevo extends. Today in the dome itself is the grave of Nikola Karev and a monument and bust of Toše Proeski.
